ABOUT 

Lieneke Veen (1998) grew up in the open landscapes of Friesland, where she was raised to both appreciate and challenge her surroundings. Without a direct connection to the film industry, she developed her eye for detail through the painters in her family, approaching cinematography with the same layered, visual sensitivity.

She graduated in Cinematography from the Netherlands Film Academy in 2025.

With a background in lighting, Lieneke shapes her images with care and precision — crafting scenes like paintings of light that amplify mood, character, and emotion. Her approach combines technical knowledge with in-depth visual and narrative research, often drawing on symbolism and character development to add depth and nuance to each story.

Lieneke finds inspiration in fine art, photography, and observation — from both her own work and that of others. Every project, whether fiction or non-fiction, is approached with a fresh and personal perspective. While fiction allows her the most space for imagination and visual storytelling, she also enjoys working on documentaries, commercials, and music videos.
